(ROME)ing in Caffè – The best coffee in town!

One thing I noticed instantly about Italy is their intensive love for coffee! Italians love their coffee, and they love to drink them fast. Espressos can be ordered at any time of the day but you can only order cappuccinos before 10am — interesting? Yes, very. Regardless of when and what you can order, you will find cafes full with people coming in and out throughout the day. And unlike the States, there is no such thing as coffee to go. Italians would order coffee at the bar, gulp their espressos down quickly, and leave. If you want to stay and enjoy your cup of coffee, chances are you will be charged with a service fee. While (ROME)ing the streets, I decided to scout out some of the best coffee houses in Rome and try them out myself. Although there are cafes on every block, here are a few coffee shops that have made my list!

1. Sant’ Eustachio il caffè dal 1938 a Roma

IMG_6875 IMG_6872IMG_6873IMG_6878 IMG_6879 Location: Piazza de Sant’ Eustanchio 82 (By the Pantheon)

Price: About 2 € for a cup of coffee (more or less depending on what you order) and 2€ for pastries

Recommend: TIRAMISU COFFEE. I had no idea such a thing existed. Tiramisu + coffee = a little taste of heaven. Must try!!!

2. Bar A’more

Location: Via dei Banchi Nuovi 41

Price: 3 € Panino and 1.20 € cappuchino

Recommend: Yes! Super cheap and affordable! Super friendly and welcoming staff! This bar is located right by my study center, so it is extremely convenient for me to stop by before class for a quick cappuccino to go!

3.Circus Cafe

This place is literally a hole in the wall. I would have passed by it, without even giving it a chance because it does not have the most inviting door entrance. I discovered this place by searching up coffee places with wi-fi online and decided to check it out because it was only a 4 minute walk from my study center. And it definitely blew my mind with it’s interior decorations, ambience and friendly owners. I will be coming back to study everyday!! Great homemade apple cake and cafe lattes!

Location: Via della Vetrina 15 (By Piazza Navona)

Price: Price can be a little bit tricky here if you plan on staying here for awhile. If you order coffee at the bar, a cup of coffee can range from 1 € to 2€. But if you are planning on sitting down and spending a few hours in there, coffee will range from 3€ to 5€ (for the service fee).

Recommend: Yes, Yes, Yes! Stop by if you need to be productive and isolate yourself for a few hours in a comfortable and cozy environment with great old american music — all while enjoying a nice cup of coffee and homemade cake.

4. TAZZA D’ORO

IMG_8151IMG_8152IMG_8155 IMG_8156

Location: Via degli Orfani, 84, 00186 (By the Pantheon)

Price: Typical and very standard prices, ranging from 1€ to 4€ depending on what you order.

Recommend: I would recommend coming here to try the Granita de Caffe con Panna! The barista recommended this to me, because it is what they are known for. I still can’t describe what it is – it’s like a frozen tiramisu coffee with whip cream. Not your typical cup of coffee but if you are willing to try something new, give this place a go!

List is still in PROGRESS.
